  • Vitalik Buterin is a Russian-Canadian programmer and writer, best known as one of the co-founders of Ethereum. He is widely regarded as a key figure in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space.

  • The Ethereum Whitepaper is the foundational document written by Vitalik Buterin in 2013, outlining the vision and technical details for Ethereum, a decentralized platform that enables smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps).

  • The item up for auction is the Ethereum Whitepaper Signed by Vitalik Buterin Phygital, which is made up of both physical and digital counterparts.

    The physical part is the actual paper document containing Vitalik’s signature, which is presented in a museum quality, archival storage and presentation case.

    The digital part is an interactive NFT (ERC-721) of the signed white paper on the Ethereum network.

  • Vitalik signed the white paper at the Bitcoin Expo 2014 in Toronto, Canada on April 12, 2014 at the request of Ben Miley, a conference attendee, who has preserved the signed document since then.

  • The NFT is an ERC-721 token on the Ethereum blockchain. It is an interactive NFT of the signed white paper, making it easy to view all fourteen pages and share it with friends.

Gerald Cotten was the co-founder and CEO of QuadrigaCX, a Canadian crypto exchange. He gained significant attention and notoriety in the cryptocurrency space due to a major controversy surrounding his sudden death in December 2018. Cotten was the only person with access to the exchange's cold wallets, which held a large amount of customer funds in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Following his death, it was discovered that he had not left behind access information for these wallets, effectively locking away the customer funds.
